Tuned in to God’s Voice

My hubby is at home today because it’s a bank holiday. He likes listening to the radio. When he’s not in the house, it would never even occur to me to turn the radio on, I like quiet. This morning this thought occurred to me:

Thousands of radio broadcasts go out all over the world, 24 hours a day. Billions of people are listening to the radio right now and for 24/7 there are always billions of people somewhere in the world, listening to the radio. But I very seldom hear a radio broadcast. Why? Because even though we have 3 radios in our house, I seldom turn one on!
If I don’t turn the radio on, I’m not going to hear it. In the same way, God is speaking, ALL the time. 24/7.
We might have half a dozen bibles in our house. We might go to church once or twice a week. But unless we position ourselves to hear him and keep our ears tuned to him, we won’t hear him.
In Matthew‬ ‭11:15‬ ‭(NLT) Jesus said “Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand!”
‭‭‬‬Also in Mark‬ ‭4:9 “Then he said, “Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand.”
In Revelation that phrase is used several times.
“Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the churches.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭2:29‬ ‭NLT‬‬
“Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the churches.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭3:22‬ ‭NLT‬‬
“Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the churches. To everyone who is victorious I will give fruit from the tree of life in the paradise of God.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭2:7‬ ‭NLT‬‬
You sort of get the feeling The Lord is trying to tell us something, don’t you?!
May we be tuned in to God’s voice today. Listening. Ready!

  1. “In the same way, God is speaking, ALL the time. 24/7. … unless we position ourselves to hear him and keep our ears tuned to him, we won’t hear him. … Access (to Jesus) without application will not equal transformation.” Beautiful writing, Jill, and marvelous points here. Yes, knowing of God is not the same as knowing God! Blessings to you and thank you for this great reminder that we need to available ourselves of the access we have to God, not just know it is there, somewhere!
